Information provided by Hans Bornman from his unpublished book, Lowveld Tour Guide:

Hamlet, and railway station, some 8 km east of Waterval Boven at 29 39S, 30 23E. The name is Dutch for ‘below the Waterfall’. The reference is to the 90 meter high ZASM falls in the Elands River, some 3 km north-west of Waterval Onder. The house where Paul Kruger conducted the affairs of the ZAR government during July and August 1900 is in the grounds of the hotel. There is also a British cemetery.
