The Lydenburg Museum is an Culture Historical Museum with an emphasis on local history and cultural diversity.
The well-known Lydenburg Heads are the main attraction and central to the museum exhibition. These relics date from approximately 600AD, a unique Archaeological find which put Lydenburg in the global limelight when they were discovered in the late 1960's.
Visitors and school groups are welcome to visit the museum, it is free of charge. Entrance to the Gustav Klingbiel Nature Reserve is located at the museum and an entrance fee of R10 per person applies. The reserve is very popular among mountain bike riders and casual hikers. Game viewing is also regularly done by visitors with high clearance vehicles.
