White River

The pretty town of White River was first settled in numbers at the turn of the 19th century by demobbed officers of Milner’s Anglo-Boer War forces. A busy farming community quickly grew along somewhat eccentric lines in this remote and isolated English-speaking corner of the empire. Nowadays, White River is a centre for culture, set in rolling farmlands and forests where once ne’er a tree grew, against the backdrop of Legogote Mountain.
